Never doubt that God hears you.

Dear Stranger

There are times when the journey becomes so hard that we begin to doubt that it will ever get better. Slowly, without meaning to or realizing, we start to resign ourselves to the situation. Even as we go to church, we just go through the motions. We speak to friends and family saying all the right things but inside we are slowly losing hope.

It took me years to realize it takes more than a moment. You see the moment is when you encounter God. Something inside you shifts and you realise there is something greater than everything. But then you go home, away from church, it’s easy to get overwhelmed all over again. Then the feeling of failure starts to creep in, stealing more hope than you had before.

Over the years, in my walk with God, I have lived by a 1000 prayers a day. Not actually a thousand prayers but it simply means, even if I have to pray that many times a day, I will. Not to remind God, because He already knows, but to remind myself that God is bigger than anything I’m facing. Not big prayers (I’m one of those who didn’t believe I even knew how to pray) just softly spoken words under my breath was and is all I do sometimes. And if I’m honest, at times, that is all the strength I have. Then I open my Bible and read His word, and pray for understanding.

It’s time you set yourself free of the notion of being a perfect Christian. The is no perfect. God will meet you where you are in your journey. Be honest with him, tell how difficult it is then pray for strength to endure. Pray a thousand times or more. God is not surprised or disappointed. He is well pleased with His creation and He is faithful to answer you all things according to His will.

Never stop praying.
1 Thessalonians 5:17

And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words.
Romans 8:26
